Zen Zero Zen

You have a big job, a family, things to do, people to see.  You are a very busy person.

And, of course, you have no time.  How are you supposed to change the world?

According to my mother, the wisest person in my life, our perception that we have no time to do what we want to be doing because we are such busy and active people is totally ridiculous.

Why?

“Because you are just a speck in the universe.”

“Just because you’re so busy doesn’t mean you’re being productive.”

“Spend your time on this earth doing what you love to do, not what you can do.

Seizing the difference is what distinguishes game changers from game players.

So, are you ready to be unapologetic about accomplishing your goals, here are seven ways to help you zero in on changing the world.

1.Take Care of You

Sleep well.  Eat healthy foods.  Give yourself time to rejuvenate and relax.  Listen to music, read books and enjoy art.  Your body, mind and soul will thank you with increased clarity and focus.

2.Zero In box

Get your emails out of your inbox by deleting, delegating, filing, or setting a time to deal with them.  Do this sometime in the late afternoon, never first thing in the morning.

3. Silencers

Why should you be disturbed anytime someone decides to call you, email you, text you or interrupt you in any way?  Shut your ringers and alerts off.  Put up a sign that says, “Do Not Disturb”  while you are working.  People will get used to it.

4. Skim Reading

If you need to know anything, you can find it online and when you do, skim the first paragraph only or better yet, read the bullets.  Everything that follows is hamburger helper.

5. Outsource

You are good at what you are good at so stick to that.  Outsource everything else.

6. Assign Times to Tasks

Estimate how long each task will take. Schedule it and stick to it.

7. Check Off, Check Out

Make a big deal checking tasks off your list.  Go ahead, do the dance, give yourself a double thumbs up and check out.

This works for me.  What works for you?
