Changing the world is an act of creative desperation. You can not possibly champion new thinking that shakes up people, much less the status quo until you are sufficiently discontent. And restless.
It also helps if you are willing to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. With being a single voice challenging comfortable ways of doing things. Being unapologetic about your convictions and being the first one to cheerfully admit you made a mistake if you do, never apologizing for being bold.
Here ‘s what you should do:
1 Listen to what your mother told you
That’s right. Your mom had your back, literally, when she said, “Stand up straight, don’t shlump!” Square your shoulders, lift up your chin and smile as you move and you will be the picture of confidence.
2 Be nice to people
Be the first one to introduce your fabulous self to someone new. Follow with a warm smile, a firm handshake and a business card. It is hard to resist someone who makes a charming effort to get to know you. I like to re-introduce my new friend to other new friends and eventually create a little group around me.
3 Listen to what I am telling you
The devil is in the details. Wear good shoes. Shoes are the point of the exclamation mark you make, the pedestal you are perceived from so make sure what you put on your feet elevate you.
A quote for this style note
“At least they are walking tall, walking with confidence and they are walking like they belong on the pool deck,”
Pierre Lafontaine
Confidence is something you exude the minute you walk into the room. Or rather, take over the room.
What is it about you? What are you doing?
Walk with confidence, walk calmly, walk with purpose.
